The Jing Project is a new tool from our friends over at TechSmith that makes screen capturing and screencasting easier by providing the one simple program for both. I am blown away by how simple it is to use and it's like nothing you've used before.
The Jing Project is free (at least for now) and easy to fall in love with...until you upload a screencast. Jing only saves screencasts in Flash (.swf). What's the catch? Well, if you want to share it with someone then you'll need to pay for their Screencast.com service... a video hosting site owned and run by TechSmith
Screencast.com is a poor excuse for a video sharing service. In fact, I'd never recommend it to anyone. But, the integration with Jing makes Screencast.com somewhat more appealing.
The screen capture tools are handy if Flash files don’t bother you. Overall, it feels like a product that should cost a few buck and create a file that I can upload to YouTube...a real video streaming website.
