A user may create Custom Fields, which are data fields customized at the user's option, for the purpose of tracking virtually any type of information throughout various tabs of the Propertyware application.

 

 

To create a Custom Field:

  1. Click the Setup link from the top right corner of any page of the application.

  2. From the Customize menu on the left sidebar of the page, click the Custom Fields link.

  3. Click on the link in the subnavigation bar that corresponds to the area of the application where you would like to add customs fields. Select from the following link locations:

  1. When adding a Custom Field, you will be prompted to complete the following data fields:

 

Field Name

Description

Field Name

Enter the Name of the custom field as you want it to appear in the application.

Data Type

 

Select a Data Type, meaning the type of data content to be entered within the custom field. You may select from the following Data Type options:
  • Text: Creates a field that will accept up to 100 characters of text and/or numbers.
  • Number: Creates a field where users can enter any number, which will be treated as a real number where any leading zeros will be removed.
  • Currency: Creates a field which translates inputted information into dollar and cent values.
  • Percentage: Creates a field where users can enter a percentage number, for example, '100'. The system automatically adds the percent sign to the number (i.e., 100%).
  • URL: Creates a field where user can enter a URL up to 100 characters. Does not require user inputs http://
  • Date: Creates a field that allows users to enter a date formatted as mm/dd/yyyy or pick a date from a pop-up calendar. This is the only type of field that will allow you to create an associated alert for the field.
  • Picklist: Creates a field that can have up to 9 different options, in list format, which users can choose from.
  • Memo: Creates a field that allows users to enter unlimited free form text.

Default Value

In the event users do not input a value, enter a default value to be entered in its place.

Required Field

Select "yes" if you would like the custom field to appear as a required field for all users. Alternatively, select "no" to make the custom field optional.

Picklist Options

If you create a picklist custom field, enter values for your picklist options.

 

  1. Once you have completed the above steps to configure your Custom Field, click the Save button.
